Desire

Desire is an impulse towards something we want. When we want something, we work hard to get it; it is a gratifying feeling. When we desire something and we fulfil it, we feel satisfaction. It is neither bad nor good. It varies a lot depending on what you want and what actions you take if, for example, you want to be thinner but become obsessed and stop eating, which harms your health. However, if we do sports and eat in a balanced way, respecting the rest necessary for the body, it can be beneficial. With this, I want you to understand that desire is not bad; it is linked to our actions in response to it.

-When I was 19 years old, I was obsessed with looking good. I was in the world of social media and perfect bodies to the point where I felt guilty if I ate a chocolate bar. My desire to be thin made me obsessed with food, such as not eating carbohydrates, and my happiness depended on my weight. Nowadays, I don’t have those desires anymore because I learned to listen to my body and listen to myself. Now, my desires have changed. For example, I want to have a healthy diet, but above all, I want to be happy when I see myself in the mirror and feel proud of the woman I am. I no longer wish to be thin; now, I want to be healthy.
